Syrup Recipes for Flavoring Coffee |
The popularity of coffee shops have really exploded in the last ten years and it's really no surprise that more and more people want to have their favorite coffee drinks in the comfort of their own home. Of course, in the case of espresso you will have to invest in some expensive equipment but that's not always the case. One of the best tricks coffee shops use to spice up their coffees is flavored syrup. Surprisingly, syrup recipes for flavoring coffee are quite easy to make and taste nearly as good as the "real" stuff. The basic recipe for making syrup recipes for flavoring coffee is to bring a cup of water to boil and then add a cup of sugar to the mix along with whatever flavoring you like. Allow the mixture to simmer until it has reduced by half. Below are some more specific recipes but keep in mind that you can experiment with other types of flavoring. Vanilla Syrup for Flavoring Coffee 1 cup of Sugar 1 cup of Water 1 tsp of Vanilla Extract Preparation: Bring the water to a boil in a small sauce pan. Add the vanilla extract and reduce the heat. Slowly stir in the sugar until it is completely dissolved. Allow the syrup to simmer for about for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Once the syrup has reduced by half, remove it from the heat and allow it to cool completely. Finally, pour it into a container (preferably glass) that will make it easy to pour out of later. Alternately, you could use a vanilla bean instead of vanilla extract. Simply split the bean in half and then follow the instructions as above to prepare it. You will however want to remove the vanilla bean after it has cooled down.
