For many people, coffee is the starting point of each day and for many it is a drink that is also consumed throughout the day. Espresso is a specialty coffee drink and there are a number of recipes for espresso beverages that you can try out at home or at your local coffee shop.

The Ristretto is a small shot of espresso usually about 1 ounce. The lungo on the other hand is a larger shot and is about 5 to 6 ounces.

The first of our recipes for espresso beverages is the popular cappuccino. For this you will need a double shot of espresso, 2.5 ounces of frothed milk, and 2.5 ounces of steamed milk. First place the espresso into your cup followed by the steamed milk and then the frothed milk. You can also add a little spice to your cappuccino by adding flavorings such as chocolate, hazelnuts, or vanilla syrup.

The next of our recipes for espresso beverages is the café latte. For this you will need a double shot of espresso and 4 to 5 ounces of steamed milk. Place the espresso into your cup and add the steamed milk. You can also add flavorings to this espresso beverage and these can include caramel, hazelnut, and raspberry syrup.

Other recipes for espresso beverages include the café Americano and the café macchiato. The café Americano is a single shot of espresso with approximately 6 to 8 ounces of hot water added to it. This espresso beverage tends to be a little sweeter tasting but still produces a full bodied cup of coffee. The café macchiato which is a double shot of espresso topped with a dollop of frothed milk.

There is a seemingly endless supply of recipes for espresso beverages. Most are simply variations of the recipes listed above. Experiment around the recipes a little bit until you find that perfect combination of milk, water and espresso.
