So, you've decided to leave civilization behind for a weekend and enjoy some time in the wilderness. There's only one problem with your plan; your morning coffee is essential! Not to worry, we are here to help. Below you will find a couple of quick and easy ways to ways to make coffee by the campfire. The first step is to bring along some bottled water. Since coffee is mostly water, the quality of the water greatly affects its taste. So, don't get caught having to use the low-quality high-chlorine water that you usually find at campsites. Campfire Coffee Recipe for a few Cups Put four teaspoons of ground coffee into a pot, and add two pints of cold water. Bring the water to a boil, and let it steep for a few minutes. You may notice that some of the coffee grounds are floating around in the pot. To settle the coffee grounds, add a little bit (one or two teaspoons) of cold water. This will cause the coffee grounds to sink to the bottom of the pot. Campfire Coffee Recipe for a Whole Pot Bring about two quarts of water to a boil in a coffee pot or some other type of pot. Next, add a couple of handfuls of coffee to the water. You may want to add a little more or a little less depending on how strong you like your coffee. Let the coffee steep for about five minutes. Like before, add a few of teaspoons of cold water once it's done brewing. This will cause the coffee grounds to settle to the bottom of the pot. Other Recipes for Making Campfire Coffee Of course, the easiest way to coffee is with a coffee maker. If you are staying in a camping area, many will have outlets that you can plug which can be used for the coffee maker. A percolator is preferable though, since they are more self-contained that coffee makers. You could also just bring a long a French Press, which brews an excellent cup of coffee no matter where you are. | |
