Can Coffee be used to Color Grey Hair?

It probably comes as no surprise to most of you that here at GCS we receive lots of questions about coffee from our visitors and users. One question that pops up from time to time is; can coffee be used to color grey hair? Well we've all seen the stains that coffee can leave behind, right?

Dye Your Hair the Natural Way

For this reason, many people have begun to turn back towards a more natural approach to dying their hair. This is especially true of those people who are sensitive to the harsh chemicals used in hair treatments.

Naturally Darken Light Hair and Cover Grey

Gray hair can be very beautiful, but just because you have it doesn't mean you want it. Using products like coffee, tea and spices to dye your hair is a great way to give your hair a break from chemicals and save a little money in the process.

If you have naturally dark hair and gray hair is taking over, consider hiding your gray hair with the following natural home remedy. Please note, this is will obviously only work for people with dark colored hair.

Coffee Dye to Cover Grey Hair

You will need three ingredients:
Apple Cider Vinegar

Henna can be found at beauty supply stores or purchased online. Depending on the color of your hair, you will want to use a medium brown to dark brown henna. This is also true of the coffee you select.

First brew up a few cups of coffee. Then you simply mix some of the henna powder into hot coffee until it because a semi-solid paste. Finally, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to act as a fixative.

Allow the paste to cool if it is too hot then apply the paste to your hair and allow it dry before rinsing it out.

The coffee dye may last up to six weeks. You could also use black tea instead of coffee.

Isn't there an Easier Way to Cover Grey Hair using Coffee?

Actually there is, many people simple rinse their hair repeatedly with strong black coffee until the desired look is obtained. This however will not last as long as a dye made using henna.

For some people grey hair simple starts coming in too early, for others they just don't like the look of grey hair. Whatever your reason, a natural dye like coffee or tea may be the answer you are looking for. Strong black coffee or black tea is actually pretty good for darkening light hair and covering grey.
