Few spices are as commonly used in baking than nutmeg and it only seems fitting that we add to our growing collection of coffee cake recipes a coffee cake-nutmeg recipe of our own. This is actually become one of the office favorite's here at GCS and we are sure you will like this delicious, easy to make recipe. 2 cups of Flour 2 cups of Brown Sugar 8 tbsp of Butter 1 Egg 1 cup of Sour Cream 1 tsp of Baking Soda 1 tsp Nutmeg 1/2 cup of Walnuts, chopped (optional) Making the Nutmeg Coffee Cake: Preheat the oven to 325 degrees and lightly grease an 8 x 8 baking pan. Combine the flour, brown sugar and butter in a bowl and mix just until it is coarse and crumbly. Place a couple of the crumbs in the bottom of the pan and press gently until evenly formed. Next you should mix the baking soda into the sour cream. Now you can add the sour cream to the rest of the crumb mix along with the remaining ingredients (egg, nuts and nutmeg). Bake in the center of the oven for about an hour. You can test the doneness with a toothpick. | |
